OSHA Outreach Training Program
10-Hour General Industry Training Course

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-Hour General Industry Training Course provides entry-level workers information about employee rights, employer responsibilities, how to file an OSHA complaint, hazard identification/avoidance/control, and how to prevent job-related hazards. The training course is conducted by an OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer. Successful course completion results in the issuance of an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Student Course Completion Card and a Course Completion Certificate.


Mandatory Topics: 7 hours

• Introduction to OSHA – 2 hours

• Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection – 1 hour

• Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection – 1 hour

• Electrical – 1 hour

• Personal Protective Equipment – 1 hour

• Hazard Communication – 1 hour


Elective Topics: 2 hours*

*Must present at least two hours of training on the following topics. At least two topics must be presented. The minimum length of any topic is one-half hour.

• Hazardous Materials

• Materials Handling

• Machine Guarding

• Introduction to Industrial Hygiene

• Bloodborne Pathogens

• Ergonomics

• Safety and Health Program

• Fall Protection


Optional Topics: 1 hour

Other General Industry hazards or policies and/or expand on the mandatory or elective topics. The minimum length of any topic is one-half hour.

30-Hour General Industry Training Course

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-Hour General Industry Training Course provides training to those workers having some safety responsibility in their job. The training course is conducted by an OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer. Successful course completion results in the issuance of an OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Student Course Completion Card and a Course Completion Certificate.


Mandatory Topics: 13 hours

• Introduction to OSHA – 2 hours

• Managing Safety and Health – 2 hours

• Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection – 2 hours

• Electrical – 2 hours

• Materials Handling – 2 hours

• Personal Protective Equipment – 1 hour

• Hazard Communication – 1 hour

• Walking and Working Surfaces, including fall protection – 1 hour


Elective Topics: 2 hours*

• Hazardous Materials (Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Spray Finishing, Compressed Gases, Dipping and Coating Operations)

• Introduction to Industrial Hygiene

• Bloodborne Pathogens

• Fall Protection

• Ergonomics

• Safety and Health Programs

• Powered Industrial Vehicles
